(Overland Park, KS; February 28, 2012) — The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has selected TriStar Publishing, Inc. (TriStar) to provide event media and advertising sales services for the 2012 AAFP Scientific Assembly, October 16-20, in Philadelphia, PA.
As AAFP’s exclusive publishing partner at the meeting, TriStar will produce several meeting products, including: the AAFP UpClose daily newspaper (print, digital and mobile editions), the AAFP Doctor’s Bag and Premiere hotel room literature distribution service, and the AAFP Philadelphia City Scene restaurant and attraction guide. TriStar will also provide advertising sales and support services for the AAFP Scientific Assembly Preview and the AAFP Scientific Assembly Program and Exhibit Guide.
Tom Pellet, AAFP’s Division Director of Meetings and Conventions, explained the need to switch event media partners. “To better meet the needs of our audience and to increase the exposure of the AAFP Scientific Assembly, the American Academy of Family Physicians has realigned the production and distribution of its Assembly publications for 2012. This precipitates the move to TriStar Publishing, Inc., as the official event media publisher. We are excited to welcome TriStar Publishing to our Assembly team.”
The Scientific Assembly is AAFP’S largest annual meeting for continuing medical education, drawing more than 10,000 physicians and guests each year. Medical professionals can select from more than 300 CME courses addressing a variety therapeutic areas. The Expo Hall at Assembly provides physician attendees an opportunity to research products and services from more than 300 exhibiting companies offering solutions for professional development, patient care, and practice management.
With this new partnership, TriStar is now the exclusive event media partner at 14 events on the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association’s (HCEA) list of Top 50 Largest Medical Meetings. Like AAFP’s Scientific Assembly, many of those events have been added to TriStar’s client list in the last year. “We’re relatively low key about the work we do with our clients, but it is very exciting to see that the editorial, design, production, and sales expertise that TriStar provides is so highly regarded in the healthcare event community,” said Eric Reynolds, TriStar’s CEO. “In the past year alone we have been selected to assist five major medical events, some of which had utilized other providers for decades, yet sought our help to take their event media to the next level. AAFP’s Assembly is a highly regarded event in our market and we couldn’t be more pleased to become their event media partner.”
